I have been working in the accounting field for awhile and have noticed that I no longer enjoy the work - for a number of reasons and I am currently out of work.  I have an MBA but have been unable to break free of the 'Accountant' role.  I have had a string of bad luck with companies that have closed or downsized and I always seem to gravitate back to accounting because I have experience and can earn an income that will help my family get back on its feet. I would like to change my career path in more of a business consulting, business development, or even college guidance counselor direction.  However my dream job would be working in the outdoors or with animals.  I just don't know how to make the change.

I have thought about going back to school, but I am still paying on previous school loans and am not sure financially I can take that on at this time. I have children who are quickly approaching college age.

I would appreciate any guidance or suggestions.
