The Customer Service Trap

Hello!  I've been in Customer Service for about eight years now and I'm just tired.  I never thought I'd be doing it forever and while I've grown substantially in my role, I'm just burnt out on it.  I'm about half way finished with my Bachelors (focus in Supply Chain Management) and wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on how I could go about marketing myself properly for an entry level position within this field.  I am APICS certified which is a plus, but most jobs are looking for experience and a degree or one or the other which I have neither.  I'd like to think that I could use some of my Customer Service experience towards this field (considering we work hand in hand and I've been in Manufacturing for quite some time) but not sure if I'm marketable enough with just that.  How do I get a potential employers attention with no experience other then some schooling?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Ok Ian I have a situation that hopefully you can shed some light on. I have 25 years of manufacturing experiece, 12 years at mid to senior level managment. I will finish my degree in business management July 2008. I am currently looking to change careers and get out of manufacturing. I started out as a 3rd shift janitor, no degree when I was 20 and before I was 40 was a plant manager. I made this progression through multiple manufacturers and without a degree. Not something I'd recommend trying in today's clilmate. The skills, knwoledge, and experience I have gained over the years is very transferrable to other industries such as healthcare or education; however, like racelACU, I can not get employeers interested in talking with me since I am not "experienced" in their particular industry. My wife is an RN and clincal manager and I see the absolute waste her company exhibits and am apalled at the inefficiencies. If the healthcare industry had to compete globally like manufacturers they'd be out of business. How do I get other non-manufacturing companies interested in me?
