Real Estate slump
I have been in the real estate industry for almost 15 years and am looking to get out with out taking a large pay cut. If anyone has any options for a smart career change pleaese let me know. I have several years as an admin assistant and accounting but most companies want me to start as entry level because I do not have a degree.
Hi, Although having a degree is important, you can still negotiate a strong salary based on your experience - especially having 15 years in real estate or any other field for that matter. If you've been doing something for that long, you must have very strong skill sets. Also keep in mind that perhaps most employers may "prefer" a candidate with a degree, that doesn't mean that they will not consider the RIGHT candidate without a degree. If you haven't done so already, create a list of strongest skills relative to the career change that you are headed and then practice on your pitch. Sell them on what you can do for them and how your skills are transferable. good luck to you! | |
