New job, New city Not happy

I am two months into a new position, with a new company, in a new city.  This is my first relocation.  My new salary is almost double my old salary, so it seemed like a smart decision to accept this new position and move 900 miles from home.

However, the specific project I was hired for was indefinitely postponed on my first day.  The work I have been doing for the last two months can best be described a mind-numbing.

I miss my old job, and I am sure I am home-sick as well.

What should I do?  Is it too early to start looking for a new position that presents the challenge this position was described as having ???

Hi

I gave up my first job mainly down to "homesickness" that was over 30 years ago.  I went home changed career & stayed in the 2nd post for 5 years studied for Busines & became professionally qualified in Procurement/Purchasing in UK.  Careers can be be challenging I have spent over 36 months living away from home, before my wife & family relocated.  I now spend 6 hours a day commuting into London by train - job is OK but I haven't moved house for nearly 10 years.

What is your career plan ?

Has the new Company explained why the project has been postponed ?

Have you made friends from work or where you now live - that makes a big difference.

Yes - leaving is easy decision - staying for the right reasons both career & social are much tougher.

Good luck.
