Need help looking for a job
I have been with company for nine years now and I want to better myself in another career. I have a BA in Human Resource Management with a minor in Marketing. Where do I start and how do I know it is the best job for me? Like pay, opportunity, location and etc. Please email me with any information you can give me. Thanks,
I hate to state what might seem like the obvious, but the "best" job is the one that will make you happy, enable you to make the money you feel you need, and provide a good work/life balance.
No one can tell you what job will pay you what you need to meet your financial obligations, or tell you where you'll be happy living, especially people who don't know you. You don't mention your professional experience, but as far as your education goes, you certainly have some universal areas covered. Do you have some personal interests that you might want to blend your educational and professional experiences to? I was thinking maybe something that is with a corporation or government. That way I am stable. I want a job that I don' t have to worry about my bills every month. It is hard to live on your own in Florida, at least in South Florida. I am just not sure what I want. I am so scared and I get really bad anxiety when I am stressed. What type of jobs do you recommend? Please write back when you get a chance. What do you like doing? Do you like working with numbers? Assisting the disabled? Working within the court system? Working with computers? Working with kids? In order to figure out what you want to do you need to figure out what would give you the most pleasure. Corporations need manufacturers, salespeople, financial people, secretaries, directors, product control, computer support, etc. You sound young and like you are unsure what your future will bring your way. The first step in finding a suitable job is to sit down and find out what you want to do. The second is researching that industry and determining which companies seem to have the most compatible work environment and mission closest to your interests. From there, you can figure out how much you need to make to live on comfortably, etc. When you figure out what you want to do with your life and what interests you most, then let us know and we will try to help you figure out how to go about accomplishing getting a job wth those interests. if you get really bad anixety when stressed dont work for the government they will stress you out alot more than you realize. its a pain in the butt, i spent the last 6 years with them for the Navy if you cant handle stress thats not the place to be. I guess you have to figure out what you need to pay the bills, but don' t let that be the only driving factor in what you do. Try to find something you might enjoy. I hesitate to make recommendations on something as serious as a job to someone I don' t know. You might try some of the career tests like the JASPER here on Monster. It won' t tell you what to do, but it will point out some of your traits and can make suggestions on possible career matches. You might also look at books like What Color is My Parachute by Richard Nelson Bolles, Do What You Are by Paul Tieger, and Do What you Love, The Money Will Follow by Marsha Sinetar for help with making career choices. Just a word of caution: Don' t get caught by the idea that corporations are stable. They become unstable everyday, and sometimes at a moments notice. I' m not saying there' s anything wrong with them; they help make the world go ' round. But, don' t let your guard down regardless of whether you go into a corporation or any other kind of organization. Keep your resume sharp and up-to-date, and keep building your network, just in case you ever need them. | |
