N.F.L. Dream CareerIs it possible to make it in the N.F.L. as a starting Quarterback let' s say if I wanted to play for the N.Y. Jets? Here' s my dilemma: From Sept. - most of June, I work mostly 7-days-a-week and I am one of the top-producing Reps. in the organization that I work for. I' ve been with them so far for 2 and a half years. The problem is - to make a long story short - is I am severely under compensated for the outstanding work that I' ve done for them because I am outspoken and REFUSE to kiss ass and play this ####, sycophantic Political game that most others would do for fear of losing their job. Because of this, it has prevented me from receiving the income I truly deserve and there are also circumstances that are BEYOND my control which has hurt my income as well - such as students canceling for reasons that were NOT my fault . Currently this is the best job I' ve ever held because I LOVE what I do and I am performing a VERY valuable service to society - giving H.S. graduating seniors an opportunity for a better future from Career-based training in the Tech. and Medical Fields who would otherwise NOT go to College or work at a regular job after H.S. or, who were indecisive about their future. I am a Field H.S. Admissions Representative working on average of 70-hours-a-week. Despite this hectic schedule, I still manage to exercise 6-days-a-week from a combination of weightlifting, running and fairly long-distance walking. I am committed to the most rigorous nutritional regime that I religiously adhere to that I invented for myself that makes me exceptionally skilled combined with my natural ability for the role of - what I feel - would be a very talented quarterback for the Jets. I believe that if I were given the opportunity to compete in their training camp to try out for this role, that I have an excellent chance of beating out BOTH Pennington and Clemens for the starting role. I would also like to have the opportunity to play just ONE WHOLE preseason game - preferably the one against the Giants - to prove myself to these guys. So what is it that potentially sets me apart and makes me unique? I am probably the ONLY athlete that takes absolutely NO SUPPLEMENTATION WHATSOEVER! What do I mean by NO supplementation, here is the list of what I DON' T take: I do NOT take a multivitamin/multi-mineral supplement. I do NOT take ANY INDIVIDUAL vitamin supplements. I do NOT take ANY INDIVIDUAL mineral supplements. I do NOT take ANY protein powders, shakes, pills, bars or supplements of ANY kind. I do NOT take ANY steriods, Growth Hormones, Andro or any of that stuff in any way, shape or form. I do NOT take any fat-burners in ANY form whatsoever. I do NOT take any diet foods, energy drinks or foods or bars or sports beverages or products of ANY kind whatsoever. When I say NO supplementation, I REALLY MEAN NO SUPPLEMENTATION!!! And additionally: I do NOT eat any junk food: no cakes, cookies, candies, pretzel sodas or juices of ANY kind! No FAKE foods of ANY kind: No white flour, white sugar, white rice white bread, etc... of ANY kind! Everything I eat is natural or as close to nature as possible and there is absolutely No ADDED sugar and No ADDED salt in EVERYTHING I eat and that includes my breads AND CHEESE! I usually eat at least 4000 calories a day and that includes usually 2 pounds of meat everyday - in the form of excellent quality chopped meat and chicken ####. I try to buy as many food products as I can - organic. I can' t afford everything organic because of the expense. My diet is probably the ONLY one that is HIGH in EVERYTHING - calories, fat, protein and complex carbohydrates! I have an outstanding arm for my size and my speed is fantastic. I haven' t timed myself but I ' ve raced guys in 100 meter and 100 yard sprints and have beaten them CONVINCINGLY even though they were MUCH younger than me. My Problem: I' m probably - only according to them, NOT me - too old, too light, under height and inexperienced to play in the N.F.L. I am 5' 9" tall, 155 LBS and 41 years old. The guys that I' ve beaten in those races were in their mid twenties! I shouldn' t even be beating guys that are 5 years younger than me!!! Most N.F.L. players retire at age 38! HOWEVER, I REALLY BELIEVE that I can KICK MAJOR ASS if they only gave me the opportunity to compete for the entire duration of training camp and just ONE whole N.F.L. preseason game. All I want is for them to just give me a spot to compete and I will shock the N.F.L. WORLD!!! The ONLY thing I' m afraid of is if I get hit by one of these 250 - 300 Lb. guys is, WILL I BE ABLE TO GET UP AND CONTINUE TO PLAY WITHOUT GETTING HURT OR PERMANENTLY INJURED? Because I REALLY believe that I can win the starting job based on my exceptional athletic ability for the starting QB role. When Herman Edwards was the coach at the time a couple of years ago, I wrote a 12-page letter covering explicit details of my exercise and nurtritional regimen and the reasons why I should be accepted to compete in training camp and I basically got back a rejection letter saying that stated in a nutshell " that you for your interest in the New York Jets, but we are not accepting anyone at this time." "Is it possible to make it in the N.F.L. as a starting Quarterback let' s say if I wanted to play for the N.Y. Jets?" The best advice I can give you is to put it all behind you and move on. I' ve been there, was invited to camp, stayed for a few months before getting cut. Nutrition is a big part of what helps you get there but it has absolutely nothing to do with making the team or not. At 5' 9", 41 years old, no experience whatsoever, you have zero chance of getting into camp...let alone making the team. However, if you are hell-bent to still try, most teams have free-agent camps where guys that aren' t on anyone' s radar can still get a look...but even these camps are typically by invitation only...they usually come up in the Spring.....
I cannot decide whether this is a joke or not, no offense but it kind of made me laugh when I read it. First of all, your reasoning for wanting to play for the NFL is rediculous. You want to play because you want Peyton Manning's check. You never actually played on an organized football team, which is quite different than playing with your boys 25 years ago. Yea you might think you know everything about football and have been watching football since you were 5 or whatever, but QBs have one of the biggest responsibilities in the NFL, not to mention they have to know what every single defensive player is doing on the field, ontop of remembering routes of your own guys, there is so much that you would need to know, and there is no way you could learn it in less than a year, and step out on the field (even a preseason game). By the way, most nfl players retire at an early age because MOST OF THEM HAVE PLAYED 20+ YEARS. That #### is hard on your body, and it is smart for them to get out at a young age. IF you really want to play, go try to tryout for a semi-pro or just some organized league and play, go see if you are even cut out for it. but in reality, you stand no chance, quit watching the replacements, your way to old, you have no experience. No, this is definitely NOT a joke. I am VERY serious about everything I' ve stated in that post. First and FOREMOST, I do NOT want Peyton Manning' s check - you know NOTHING about the N.F.L. - since I mentioned my intention was to try out ONLY for the Jets NOT the Giants. Secondly, I proposed a radical concept that NONE of these morons have either proposed or thought of so far - you should ONLY get paid on your ability to produce, NOT get 10, 15, or $20,000,000 over a 5 year period which is now the typical salary that top QB' s get for a 5-year contract and that means no matter what they do or even if they get injured and are unable to play they STILL receive that money! By my standards, that' s LUDICROUS and TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!! I didn' t reveal the rest of the contents in that letter I sent to Herman Edwards since it was too lengthy, but the MOST IMPORTANT thing I mentioned was 2 MAIN POINTS! 1. That if I win the starting QB job, I only wanted to start out with the MINIMUM annual salary for a starting QB in the N.F.L. 2. If after my first year my overall QB rating in the N.F.L. was NO WORSE than 5th best - which is what I promised to Herman Edwards - , I want to get paid the salary for ONE YEAR of the QB' s contract who I knocked out of 5th place for the NEXT year! That means no matter WHAT I do for that year, I am going to receive that one year' s compensation because I' ve EARNED it the PREVIOUS year!!! That makes SENSE and that' s the way it SHOULD be for not only football player' s, but for ALL athletes in ANY professional sport! That' s the INTELLIGENT COMMON-SENSE way to do business!!! Only I thought of that!!! If these morons who I believe have College Degrees thought of that - and I NEVER went to College but I am smarter than 90% of people who HAVE College Degrees - then ALL sports would be MUCH MORE COMPETITIVE and only the BEST athletes would play and football games wold be more interesting and exciting to watch! The reason why I say that 90% of people who have College Degrees are NOT intelligent is because throughout my working life, I ' ve run into these people who have Bachelor' s Degrees and beyond, and I' ve come up with better solutions to common problems in the Companies that I' ve worked for that resulted in a more productive and efficient environment than ANY of the proposals that they recommended and I ONLY have a H.S. Diploma! You would think that ALL of that extra education they receive SHOULD make them smarter than someone with just a H.S. Diploma! But for some reason, most people with College Degrees have NO COMMON-SENSE which really translates into they are NOT really intelligent. It Doesn' t matter how great their grades were or how grandiloquent they speak, most of these people are dumbasses in disguise! 3. I also mentioned that I want to signed up on ONLY a year to year basis - NO 5-year or 3-year contracts - and I am to continue with them ONLY if my QB rating is NO WORSE than 5th best in the N.F.L.! That PROVES I am not out for - as ONLY you say Manning' s or anyone else' s paycheck for that matter!!! I ALSO mentioned that if my QB rating falls BELOW 5th best, I personally will QUIT the TEAM!!!! MORE proof that I' m not in it JUST for the paycheck!!!!! So your words will NOT discourage me from trying AND I will NOT give up on my dream. If I don' t make it, so be it. All I want is just the opportunity to compete for the whole duration of training camp before they make the cuts. who are you to say i know nothing about the nfl. What does the giants have to do with anything? i said you want PEYTON Manning not ELI Manning. I only said Peyton Manning because he is the highest paid athlete in the nfl, and I feel after reading your post you actually think you deserve his pay even though you dont have any experience at all. also, of course they get that money even if they are hurt, its a CONTRACT. they physically put their body on the line to please millions of people across the world. They have a lot of responsibility on their shoulders. Yea i use to think its rediculous, but that' s how things go, and personally i think its reasonable. Plus these guys get tons of endorsements so its just not the nfl paying them. You want to "win" the starting qb job? you don' t even have the mind set to play football. you don' t have a clue. I' ve played football for 7 years, 3 of those on varsity football. I had the chance to play college ball and i screwed up. so don' t #### tell me i don' t know nothing about football. you sound like a little pissy man that rants on about how smart you are and how talented you are, if your so #### smart, why didn' t you go to college? why don' t you go to college? oh yea sorry your so damn smart you' ll probably end up telling the university how to run their programs and become Dean, but you don' t need that now do you, because your so smart. good luck becoming a free agent without representation, playing experience, and.... um your age.
5'9" 155lbs? maybe you should check local football leagues or at best Arena Football. good luck with your job hunt. Even though I know your intentions are probably more realistic than my aspirations, I ironically would NOT do well in Arena Football because I am a RUNNING QB and in Arena Football, you MUST be a passing QB in order to succeed in that League and I' m too OLD to be concerned about playing in a local Football League because I KNOW I can do MUCH BETTER that at LEAST 90% of the QB' s that exist in the N.F.L. today and that' s why I deserve to get paid for being a major success as the OLDEST and MOST successful rookie that has ever played in the N.F.L. Oh Yeah, I did F____ up the Peyton Manning part, I admit that! I was so incensed about your letter that I forgot you said Peyton, NOT Eli. Now to set the record straight, I said in my response that I should ONLY receive the pay for ONLY one year of the QB' s contract that I knocked out of his rating - no WORSE than the 5th best rating - for the NEXT year. That would be my " COMMISSION " on top of my MINIMUM annual salary! Ex. Let' s say the minimum annual salary for an N.F.L. starting QB is $60,000/Yr and let' s say that after one year of play - my rookie year - my QB rating was 3rd best and let' s say that the PREVIOUS year, the 3rd best QB was receiving 15,000,000/Yr over a 5-yr period, then I will receive $15,060,000 for the entire NEXT year no matter WHAT I do for that next year. AND, if the year AFTER that I was ranked #1, and the top rated QB' s contract is for $25,000,000/Yr over a 5-Yr period, then the NEXT year, my compensation will be $25,060,000 no matter WHAT I do for that additional year. Get it!!! BUT, let' s say I either fell BELOW 5th best in EITHER of the aformentioned situations, then I will PERSONALLY QUIT the N.F.L. because I stated in that letter that I don' t deserve to play if I can' t live up to those high standards that I outlined in that letter and I also stated that I want that to be part of my contract. So AGAIN this PROVES to you I am CLEARLY NOT in this for the money!!! And, you' re CLEARLY WRONG about them deserving the astronomical salaries they typically receive over a 3 or 5/yr contract BECAUSE: So many athletes who get paid these astronomical salaries don' t even come CLOSE to actually deserving it. How many Sundays do you see these professional QB"s having " average days at the office " and that SICKENS and DISGUSTS me because I KNOW I can do a HELLUVA lot better than any of their performances! And here I am in my current job busting my ass, working on average of 70 hours-a-week, doing my own shopping, cooking and laundry and STILL manage to make the time to exercise 6-days-a-week and I getting a SH_T Salary compared to them!!! So don' t tell me your BULL____ about being a " Pissyman " I' ll bet you don' t work as hard as I do and can keep up that routine that I just mentioned! So I' m VERY PI___ed off at the HORRIBLE pay discrepancies that these individuals are receiving compared to the hard work that a lot of Americans endure and are getting paid not even CLOSE to what they SHOULD get paid. Ex. Why is it that teachers typically start out with an annual salary of $40,000/yr and they MUST get a Master' s Degree in N.Y.C. in order to teach whereas Models who Don' t have to have any education get paid SEVERAL 6-figure incomes? Is that FAIR??? Why is it that N.Y.C. Police Officers who have to deal with UNBELIEVABLE amounts of stress - making life and death decisions with the possibility of getting shot and either severely injured or killed - are ONLY starting out with $29,000/yr!!! That' s F_____' in LUDICROUS!!! Teachers and police Officers are just 2 small examples of many other workers in society who are SEVERELY UNDERPAID - they should BOTH start out with NO LESS than $75,000/yr because they are performing an EXTREMELY VALUABLE service to society! Is a MODEL performing such a valuable service? HELL F____ing NO!!! So in order to get those highly lucrative paychecks, my way is the right and ONLY way, they have to PROVE it year-to-year. And the salary structure I just outlined to you that I proposed for a QB' s or ANY athlete for that matter MAKES SENSE!!!! GET IT!!!! This will make EVERY sport competitive and now you will see only the REALLY COMMITTED SERIOUS, No BULL____ Athletes competing! No one will be there just to get paid or have an " Average day at the office." Otherwise they will be KICKED OUT of the sport! And the reason WHY I didn' t go to College - I HATED school! When I graduated H.S., my mother was working 2 jobs because at the time, my father had a bad back and was unable to work so I had to help out to ease the load on my Mother and help out with the bills. I' ve been working for the past 22 years now! And I told you, I did NOT say I was BOOK smart - that' s why I didn' t go to College, but I am Common-Sense smart - which in my opinion is the MOST important kind of intelligence because a lot of those College Graduates are not good at solving common business problems or coming up with appropriate solutions to typical dilemmas that I' ve been able to solve easily. | |
