What jobs match my skillsI have worked for about a year as a police news reporter for a small newspaper. Before that, I worked for 4 years as a benefits claims examiner for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs. In that job, I applied laws to figure out how much money individual veterans should be paid to go to school. My two bachelors degrees are in sociology and journalism. I don't want to work in the news business anymore, and I'm not interested in public affairs, either. What else could I do with my background? Have you considered taking this to a professional career counselor or taking some personality tests/interest inventories? They can really open your eyes to things you' ve never considered. To be honest, you have a general background that could go into almost anything. What kinds of things do you like? What do you do with your free time? Are you involved with any volunteer groups that might indicate things (e.g if you spend 6 days a week at various soup kitchens, maybe you want to consider becoming a chef...)? Do you want to travel? Do you value stability - how much? You should try children services? i have been looking for a job for the last 2 months i just left the Navy and i thought none of those skills match the civilian sector but sit down think about what you did for work and just start applying for jobs it do not hurt to apply even if its a little out of your area. And just waiting for a position to open up and pay you what you think you are worth. Never take a job for the money unless you have too. Just find something rewarding. | |
