Job Search while employed
The answer is a simple one....Use a staffing agency or an independent recruiter (they used to be called headhunters) who will match you to a new position that will challenge you. They can confidentially approach hiring authorities for you in progressive organizations to explore their interest in your skills and abilities. This not only saves you an incredible amount of time and energy (think of them as your agent)....you won't have to write cover letters or revise your resume for specific positions. That's a service they will provide you. The recruiters can give you inside information on the company that might not have been made public, which can influence you're decision if it's a good move for you. Be sure to carefully check around to see which staffing agency in your area has the best reputation. Before you email in your resume call them and how much of their business is permanent placements vs. temporary positions. These statistics are also usually published yearly in your local business journals/periodicals. Temporary positions can be fun and exciting to develop new skills, but they may end before you have something lined up again with your agency so there might be some time before the money is coming in again. Don't worry that you'll be charged a fee for being placed, reputable staffing agencies collect their revenue from employers to find you. Best wishes, Abigail | |
